It is really important to share current apps and technology available in the market that makes life easier for people with disabilities. Nklusvlife wants to share with the community these apps and tech services that considerably helps people with different disabilities. We will update constantly this information as we discover new apps and tech services pro inclusion!

 

BYMYEYES is a free iPhone and iPad app providing crowd sourced help for blind people with videochats. It basically that lets you help a visually-impaired person ‘see’ through their phone’s video camera. If you’re a sighted person you register with the service and wait for the app to send you a notification that a visually-impaired person who has also signed up requires help. Once a match is found, the two of you are connected via an audio/video call, essentially enabling you to ‘lend’ your eyes to the visually-impaired person who points their phone’s rear-facing camera at whatever it is they want to see.

JABtalk is a FREE Android speech communication application designed to help non-verbal children and adults communicate. Speech therapists commonly refer to JABtalk as an easy and effective augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) solution.  By combining personalized voice and images with an extremely simple user interface, JABtalk provides a speech solution that is both fun to use and easy to learn. 

Wheelmap.org

Wheelmap is an open and free online map for wheelchair-accessible places. It empowers users to share and access information on the wheelchair-accessibility of public places. Like with Wikipedia, everyone can participate by tagging places.

TapTapSee is a mobile camera application designed specifically for the blind and visually impaired iOS users. The app utilizes the iDevice’s camera and VoiceOver functions to photograph objects and identify them out loud for the user. TapTapSee enables the user to double tap on the device’s screen to photograph any two or three dimensional object at any angle, have it accurately analyzed, and defined within seconds. The iDevice’s VoiceOver then speaks the identification audibly to the user.
